About the thesis "The End of Reason"
preface 01/02
Wrote the thesis "The End of Reason" in the late 1990s. In it, I analyzed various existing worldviews and religions from two perspectives: “Symbolized Worldview” and “Abstracted Worldview.” Sought to uncover the characteristics common to both “worldviews” and “religions”. It is about 300 manuscript pages long. Aside from typos and omissions, I have made almost no revisions.
Wrote this paper roughly between June and November 1997. That was about 30 years ago as of 2026, when I am writing this post. Although the content of this paper had been available online for about 20 years, after some twists and turns, I decided to publish it on this blog.
The main purpose of this paper is to “identify common characteristics by comparing and examining various worldviews.” Although the paper discusses various religious perspectives, I do not adhere to any specific religion. For me, various worldviews and religions are merely “subjects of observation,” and this remains true even now, as I write this paper.
My current focus is on cultural fields such as art, design, music, and dance, and I view these cultural activities as a form of “worldview.” Through my own creative work in these fields, I am currently experimenting—moving from being a mere “observer” to becoming a “creator” myself—in an effort to grasp the essence of these “worldviews” more directly.
